European Unique Identifier (EUID)
It narrows the field to a shortlist. No rule in this engine decides a pair on it.
Unique within: The European Union, wherever the member state actually issues one. It is the only pan-European registry-issued key in existence.
What your EUID column does in Entity Bind
No rule in this engine decides on an EUID today, and none reads one. It is recognised as a first-class identifier attribute in the record model and supplied by the Finnish PRH adapter, which is built rather than switched on; it is not carried in the crosswalk and not measured. If your file carries EUIDs, split the string: send the national registration number with its jurisdiction, and it reaches the rule that does decide.
Your own column will carry gaps and typos the specimen does not, and a few hundred rows will show how much of your file it still settles.

Issuer, shape and a specimen
Every row below is checkable in another tab: the body that assigns the identifier, the exact shape including any check digits, and a specimen value. Where we hold a value we have verified against the issuing body, the specimen is that value; where we do not, it is a shape, labelled as one.
- Issued by
- The national business register, assigning under the Business Registers Interconnection System. The EU e-Justice portal is the scheme's issuer rather than a source: it has no API and no bulk product, and the identifier reaches anybody through compliant national feeds.
- Unique within
- The European Union, wherever the member state actually issues one. It is the only pan-European registry-issued key in existence.
- Format
- A country code, a register identifier and the national registration number, dot-separated, as the assigning register emits it. The structural point is the one that matters: an EUID carries its own register inside the identifier, which is exactly the property a bare company number lacks and exactly what makes a company number decisive when it has it.
- What one value identifies
- One registration in one national register, stated in a form that is unambiguous across the Union without a separate jurisdiction column.
- Specimen
- FI.1234567-8 — the shape recorded in our own data model from the one feed we have verified emitting it, Finland's PRH. The digits are illustrative rather than a real registration, and they are labelled as such because we have not verified a specimen.
What goes wrong with EUID
The failure modes that decide whether this column is worth sending, and what each one costs you once it turns up in a live file. Worth reading before you plan an integration around the column.
- 01
Nothing decides on an EUID here, and the reason is supply rather than strength. Structurally it is the best-shaped identifier on this page after the LEI, because a registration number that names its own register is the exact thing the stage comparing identifier values needs. What is missing is the route in: the crosswalk carries five identifier schemes and EUID is not among them, and the single adapter that supplies it is built rather than live.
- 02
That adapter is Finland's PRH, which returns an `euId` field and has been verified live. It has no evaluation fixture, so there is no measured quality figure for Finland.
- 03
Supply across the Union is thin. Most member states do not publish an EUID yet, which makes an EUID column a strong signal where it exists and an empty column almost everywhere else — the opposite failure mode from VAT, where the column is populated and the identifier will not carry the weight.
- 04
Germany is the hole this identifier would otherwise have filled, and it stays a hole. The German register has no API, no bulk product, no stable per-record URL and terms that exclude free reuse, so the largest EU economy is the largest gap in a citation-backed product and no EUID feed changes that.
- 05
A caller who holds an EUID can still get its benefit today by splitting it: send the national registration number with its jurisdiction, and the registration-number rule reads it the way it reads any register-qualified number.
Internal fixtures only. The historical 2026-08-29 per-tier recording covers 317 GB companies with identifier-rich arrivals seeding the catalogue first; the context tier includes country and registered-town prose. Its legacy replay has no full-prompt-verified calls and cannot certify current calibration. The September 5 CI reports cover 1,176 labelled pairs and 705 records over 250 companies using offline stubs. These are not independent customer holdouts or live production validation; the 99% minimum-input product target remains unmet. Scope is company and organisation identity only — not people, vessels, bank-account ownership, sanctions or emissions. Results may not be used for eligibility decisions about individuals, including employment, credit and tenancy.
If one of those is already in your file, a sample turns it into a number of rows instead of a suspicion.

4 of the 8 settle a pair on their own; the other 4 narrow the field and hand the decision on. If your file carries more than one of them, the question worth settling is which one is doing the work.

The rest of the answer, on the shelves that hold it. Each card names its own — a register, a definition, a guide or a comparison — and opens on the page that carries it at length.
- DefinitionEUID (European Unique Identifier)The EUID is the identifier assigned under the EU Business Registers Interconnection System, combining a country code, a register code and the national registration number into one pan-European key.
- DefinitionCompany numberA company number is the identifier a register assigns to a company at incorporation, and it is unique only within the register that issued it — never within a country and never globally.
- DefinitionCrosswalkA crosswalk is a mapping between the identifier schemes that name the same company in different systems — LEI to company number to CIK to ticker — so that data joined on one key can be joined to data keyed on another.

The bodies and records this page quotes about EUID, each with the caveat that travels with it.
- European e-Justice Portal, “Business registers – search for a company in the EU”
The portal through which the EU's interconnected business registers are searched; it states that the registers of all EU countries have been interconnected since June 2017. It has no API and no bulk product, so identifiers reach anybody through national feeds.
- Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH)
The one register verified emitting an EUID field. There is no evaluation fixture for Finland, so no quality figure is claimed for it.

Questions about EUID
Is the EUID a replacement for national company numbers?
It is a wrapper around one rather than a replacement for it. An EUID is a country code, a register identifier and the national registration number in a single string, which solves the problem that makes a bare company number dangerous: a number that names its own register can decide a match, while a number qualified only by a country code cannot, because 220 of 232 jurisdictions run more than one register. The catch is supply. Most member states do not publish an EUID today, and the one feed we have verified emitting the field is Finland's, whose adapter is built and not switched on here.
Do you support EUID lookups?
Not as a lookup. No source in this deployment answers a query by EUID, no rule decides on one, and the identifier crosswalk carries five schemes of which EUID is not one. If you hold EUIDs, split the string: send the national registration number with its jurisdiction and you get the identifier path, which for records arriving with a company number or an LEI measured 100% (317/317) on the 317-company representative fixture of 2026-08-29 — Historical results on an internal UK fixture with a preloaded catalogue. The September 5 replay has no full-prompt-verified calls and cannot establish current calibration. No independent customer holdout or global coverage claim.
